TO FEEL THESE THINGS Artist Book

$50.00

TO FEEL THESE THINGS is a hybrid between a traditional artist monograph and an autobiographical memoir spanning 8 years of Colin J. Radcliffe's personal life and ceramic sculpture.

The monograph features a collection of figurative ceramic sculptures paired with intimate reference images (portraits and text messages), alongside Radcliffe's confessional anecdotes of his intimate life. This project explores the dynamics and nuances of contemporary Queer relationships in an increasingly digital world. Echoing a sentiment of Carl Rogers's 1961 book On becoming a person ("what is most personal is most universal”), we likewise can connect with the humanistic themes running throughout the playful and effusive works and their diaristic origins. How do we grapple with the sweetness of first love or the expansiveness of heartbreak? What does it mean to come of age as a queer person? How can we grow into being a better lover?

The book includes over 100 images of the artists' work spread across 156 pages, a foreword written by writer Christopher Llyod Chang, an essay by contemporary figure painter Justin Liam O'Brien, and features an interview between Colin J. Radcliffe and Justin Moran, editor-in-chief of Paper Magazine. It is a limited edition of 150 books, each signed and numbered by the artist.
